The NY Art Book Fair went fantastically! We had a lovely time slangin goods and lurkin with homies in the tent on gravel.
The Certain Distinctions performance was really well received which is fantastic! Keep your eyes peeled for the accompanying website of all the documentation from both this and last years iterations of the piece.

We have a number of new releases and events coming up. Most notably, the release of three issues of _ Quarterly at Printed Matter next Thursday the 20th. Info below.

We’re running really low (under ~10 copies of each title) of ALL our new releases, get them before they can’t get got!

Psyched!

_ Quarterly Issue 8: No Music Is Swing

Order here

Utilizing research as the medium for creation, rather than the basis, No Music Is Swing culls all of its content from music publications prior to 1950: the first five issues of Downbeat magazine, The Academician, and texts on fictional composers.
All of the texts are modified in some way, whether structurally, contextually, or formally, to create the final work.
No Music Is Swing creates an abstracted taste of what rhythm might be able to achieve, yet, in theory, rhythm can never swing, at least as a musical form.

_ Quarterly Issue 7: Peace*

_ Quarterly Issue 7: Peace*

Made completely on 9/3/11 during Hurricane Irene in Brooklyn, NY, _ Quarterly Issue 7: Peace* is comprised of work culled almost exclusively from the internet. From Twitter hashtags to NY1 broadcasts of Mayor Bloomberg to stream-of-consciousness Google searches, Peace* conveys the experience of being locked in a studio with the computer screen as your only means of ‘seeing’.

Peace* is the smallest edition _ Quarterly has ever done, with only 20 unique pieces in existence. Each is a partially bound French fold book enclosed inside of a grocery bag and features a unique laser-jet print of the bag stapled inside. Peace* is printed with a Risograph in two colors on fluorescent orange and white paper.

_ Quarterly Issue 7: Peace* will only be available at the NY Art Book Fair and the issue release at Printed Matter on October 20th, 2011.

Taraka Larson - The Now Age

Taraka Larsons The Now Age examines contemporary conceptions of time in the context of music and its relationship to symbology, particularly in the transference from metaphor to kitsch. Taraka’s tone variates between an academic analysis to a tongue in cheek nod to rigidly ideological manifestos.

Taraka, along with her sister Nimai, perform as Prince Rama, a group that very much subscribes to the key points ofThe Now Age
